Let’s get the categorisation out of the way. Airborn is a VR arcade survival shooter. Notice I didn’t use the word “wave” there. You have full locomotion to take the flight to your enemies as you wish. How do you get around? By flying!
You point your hands where you want to go (think Superman, not Iron Man), hold the triggers and away you go. Flying with both hands out is twice as fast as flying with just one, and if you let go of the triggers you’ll soar through the air with just the momentum you’ve built up.
So that’s the locomotion, but I did say this was a shooter…
Holding the grip on a controller summons a gun to that hand. Once you get used to flying and aiming simultaneously you can pull off some pretty slick manoeuvres, like so:
That’s the gist of what I’m making. There’s so much more to tell you and I could go on for days just talking about the flight mechanics, but I hope what I’ve said so far gets you excited to step into the role of a super advanced flying killing machine.
